Solid Waste Management Project

At Savardari, Chakan, we propose to create a Framework for Waste to address the overall issues related to waste, address the goal of waste management, units of planning, importance of phasing and criteria that can be used to select pilot Gram Panchayats and focus on scaling up a participatory approach to waste management.

Goatery development project has been launched in ten villages of Chakan . The aim is to enhance the goat rearing practices of goat keepers thereby enhancing their income levels. This includes a big tribal population majority of which are Thakars –presently they are following traditional practices and goat livestock is probably the only asset they have for livestock enhancement.

Apart from these activities we have a number of initiatives which reflect one of our corporate values “Value to our society: By being a responsible citizen and improving the lives of people around us “. We encourage our members to volunteer for social initiatives. We have a cafeteria for members at Kasarwadi factory which help community women earn additional income. During festive season our members patronize sweets and snacks made by our community members. Many of our members are providing financial support for medical emergencies and needy students to complete their education.

We have provided guidance to other corporates for starting initiatives under their Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
