Averting risk of cancer in women

On Friday, 31st January, Forbes Marshall organized a cancer check-up camp for the community women from Bopkhel. It was conducted by Sahyadri hospital and their social arm called Samavedana trust. 113 women were checked in the camp for breast cancer and cancer of cervix.

As per International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), World Health Organization, Cervical, stomach and breast cancers accounted for 41% of cancer deaths in women in rural and urban areas. Thus early detection and treatment of cancer can have a substantial impact in India in averting future cancer deaths.

The main objective of this camp was to create awareness of cancer amongst the women of Bopkhel and provide them the required medical assistance for diagnosing the same.

Our company members Vimala Nambiar and Gladys Kharat from accounts, MIDC volunteered for this camp and managed the registration of women.
